smoking..

walaupun kita tak merokok ..tapi jika kita berada di situasi asap rokok yg memenuhi ruang udara kita seperti dlm rumah/dalam tandas/dalam bilik tidur ...ini amat merbahaya...seperti juga bahaya org yg merokok .......ianya disebut "secondary smoker".......

aku perhatikan....rakyat Australia yg perempuan....amat la ramai yg merokok...dari yg muda hingga la yg tua bangka terbongkok2 bila berjalan....... baik org putih ..mahupun org cina, india, pilipino, negro...sama aje... dah tu tak de rasa bersalah merokok kat station bus..dimana terdapat juga anak2 kecik atau ibu2 mengandung di station tersebut...derang peduli apa.....boleh selamba badak je merokok.......hampeh tu.....ade ke patut kita yg tak merokok terpaksa carik tempat lain...berdiri di tengah2 panas...ataupun dok jauh2 dari mereka yg merokok tu(merokok sambil duduk kat bus stop tu....)..bukan aku aje...org2 lain pun bengang je....

berlainan dengan Canadian Women...boleh kira la berapa org je yg merokok.....nisbah ngan Australian ni lebih kurang 1:8 macam tu la.... mana2 aje nampak Australian Women merokok....sambil sorong stroller anak pun leh merokok...sambil dok tungu bas pun merokok ..depan anak2 derang....apa lagi yg pregnant..sama aje....

apa yg aku nak kata.....mungkin kat Msia tu....perempuan2 yg merokok tu ..hanya ikut-ikutan..konon style.....tu nama nye tak sopan.....tak de adab....

Smoking harms unborn babies and young children
* In South Australia it is illegal to smoke in a car with children as passengers.
* Female smokers have more trouble falling pregnant than non-smokers
* They have more miscarriages during pregnancies.
* When they do get pregnant, the smoke can harm the baby. Often the baby is smaller than expected at birth.
* To help prevent SIDS, babies need to be kept away from cigarette smoke during pregnancy and for the first year of life at least.
* Smoking in the same house or car with children means they breathe in the smoke as well. These children get more colds, ear infections and chest problems such as asthma, if they live with a smoker.
* Male smokers also have a lower sperm count and more abnormal sperm than non-smokers.

Cigarette smoking during pregnancy can result in low birth weight babies. It has been associated with infertility, miscarriages, tubal pregnancies, infant mortality and childhood morbidity. Additionally, cigarette smoking may cause long-term learning disabilities. If you smoke, you should try to quit. Secondary smoke may also harm a mother and her developing baby. It is a good idea to ask people to stop smoking around you during your pregnancy and after the baby is born.

Does "passive smoking" (secondary exposure to tobacco smoke) reach a woman's unborn child?Yes. Motherisk's neonatal hair test has been used to detect fetal exposure to maternal passive smoking. The use of this "biological marker" has helped to establish the first direct proof that environmental tobacco smoke accumulates in the unborn baby in measurable and clinically relevant concentrations.

Smoking not only affects the person who smokes but also other people who surround him/her. According to the American Heart Association, nearly thirty five thousand passive smokers die of smoke inhaled from a lit pipe, cigar or cigarette. People who do not smoke directly and inhale smoke from a cigarette smoke by his/her neighbor is known as passive smoker, secondary smoker or indirect smoker. Among the passive smokers, women, children and infants are at a higher risk. Infants and children who are exposed to smoke develop asthma, frequent ear infections and may even experience infant death syndrome. The symptoms experienced by secondary smokers are coughing, excess mucus formation in the airways, chest discomfort, chest pain, and lung irritation. They even feel irritation of throat, nose and eyes. If the passive smokers experiences chest pain, it can be an indication of a heart disease. Sometimes the symptoms of secondary smoking can coincide with the symptoms of other medical conditions. Hence, it is recommended to contact the doctor immediately after the surfacing of the symptoms.

Risks of passive smoking
* When you smoke, it is not just your health that is put at risk, but the health of anyone who breathes in cigarette smoke (including those around you). The smoker only inhales about 15% of the smoke from a cigarette, with the other 85% being absorbed into the atmosphere, or inhaled by other people.
* Breathing in this secondary smoke is known as passive smoking, or secondary smoking. Those who are exposed to passive smoking also have an increased risk of smoking-related diseases, particularly lung cancer, and heart disease.
* Children are at particular risk from the effects of passive smoking because they have an increased risk of developing chest infections during their first five years. Babies who are exposed to cigarette smoke are also at a greater risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), which is also known as cot death.
* As well as making children more vulnerable to ear infections, such as otitis media, passive smoking makes children more likely to develop asthma.
