Hassan & "Chickenpox immunisation"

Semalam 21 februari 2007,jam 10am, kami membawa Hassan ke klinik untuk mendapatkan suntikan imunisasi "varicella/chickenpox". Seperti biasa Hassan memang suka naik bas, seronok dia, menahan bas, dapat tengok "Australia Flag" . Bising mulutnya apabila nampak bendera tu, "ousria flek"kata nye ...satu bas leh dengar suaranye.

Setiba di klinik, sementara menunggu giliran, Hassan sibuk membaca buku "flag" nye (memang sentiasa bawa) . Bosan membaca, dia nak "walk" pulak.

Masanya tiba untuk suntikan. Bapak Hassan terpaksa memegang nye dengan kuat. Aku tak begitu kuat untuk memegangnya, kerana tenaga Hassan lebih kuat apabila meronta dilepaskan dari pelukan. Menangis la sekejap ..."akit"..sakit kata Hassan....Sakit kena suntik aje. Aku pun menyusukanya sambil memujuknya. Setelah lega, ape lagi .."walk slowly" Hassan nak jalan katanya,...bukan berjalan tapi dia berlari dalam klinik sambil senyum-senyum...Kami berkata.."ni ke budak kena injek ni....aktif je". Setelah ditimbang dan diperiksa bekas suntikan, dan doktor berpuas hati, kami dibenarkan pulang.

Kami berjalan-jalan di Mall sementara mengunggu bas datang. Hassan tertidur di strollernye, keletihan....

Dirumah, Hassan aktif , ligat, riuh, tak tidur sepanjang petang tu. Kesana sini, berlari, main, berguling, sambil-sambil tu bila lapar tu..."ushu..ushu.." mintak susu leee..kemudian sambung aktiviti dia, tak penat.... Lepas mandi, masih juga aktif, sementara menunggu Bapak (masa utk belajar bersama Bapak), Hassan menyusu dan menyusu....

Setelah habis waktu belajar , masih juga segar.... tiada tanda-tanda untuk tidur. Kami biarkan sahaja.

Begini ke side effect kena suntikan chickenpox???? Pelik jugak makin aktif dari sebelum kena suntik.....

Hingga la pukul 9.30pm, setelah menyusu dan mungkin dah puas dengan aktiviti dia, maka tertidur la Hassan.......

Begitu le Hassan ....

Breastfeed & Work....

Breastfeed at Work

If you are planning to return to work, you have a lot more to think about.
Before you begin your maternity leave, find out if there is a lactation policy or benefit in place. Ask if your employer will give you a private place and time to express milk.
Can you work from home a few days a week or ease back into work part-time?
Helping you to continue breastfeeding your baby is in an employer's best interest, as mothers of breastfed babies miss work less often because their babies are sick less often.
You will probably need to pump two to three times in a full-time workday, for about 10 to 15 minutes each time.
Most working women find an electric double breast pump easy to use and most efficient.
Your child care provider should support your breastfeeding relationship with your baby by feeding your child expressed breastmilk—and by welcoming you to feed your baby during the workday.

Don't Shake the Milk...

Don't Shake the Milk
Linda J. Smith, BSE, FACCE, IBCLC

Why not?

Because shaking expressed mothers' milk (or boiling or freezing it) denatures the shaped molecules of the protective proteins, leaving only the pieces - the amino acids - the parts. Lactoferrin, lysozyme, and other protective components work their protection magic when they are in their original shaped molecular structure. Some components remain intact, even during freezing, shaking or heating. They not only protect the gut from many kinds of infection, but also prevent inflammation of the gut lining. Even broken up, the separate amino acids are still really good stuff and are digested by the baby as nutrients.

Imagine a set of pop-beads assembled into a necklace or bracelet. When the beads are acting as a bracelet or necklace, they are doing their job as protective elements. When you break apart the beads, you have in your hand many individual chunks of amino acids which are then digested.

Cellular components are also susceptible to damage by physical stress. After all, they are living cells.

With mother's milk, you get at least two functions for the price of one. With manufactured formula, you only get the individual beads, never the necklace or bracelet. And never the living cells.

So, please handle human milk gently, respectfully and kindly. It's far more than perfect food for babies - it's a living tissue and protective shield too.
