- Water is the best drink for thirst. Always have plenty of water available so that they can get a drink by themselves.
- Show your toddler that you enjoy drinking water too.
- Limit fruit juice to one small glass a day diluted with water.
- Avoid fruit juice drinks because they contain a lot of sugar.
- Save cordial and soft drinks for special occasions.
- Tea, coffee, 'sports' or 'energy' drinks and alcohol should not be given to children.
